About Us

St Philip’s Church

St Philip’s Church, Evington Road, Leicester, LE2 1HN.   The Church of England in Evington.

There has been a church dedicated to St Philip on this site for over 100 years - the first church was here before nearly all of the houses. We have been worshipping and welcoming the community for all that time.

We have seen and responded to many changes and now serve the community through prayer and provision of facilities. We are active supporters and one the founders of the St Philip’s Centre, we support local musical groups, youth groups for many faiths and continue to be proud of St Philip’s Cubs and Scouts.

The Hall hosts the pre-school during term time, the Winter Night Shelter over winter and many diverse events including faith meetings and private parties and wedding celebrations. If you live locally the chances are you have celebrated an event at St Philip’s.

Church Council and Partners

As with most churches, we have a church council who meet regularly to discuss the direction of the church. Please contact us if you would like more details about the Church Council.

Being part of the Church of England, we also work with and liaise across the Diocese. We have close linked to St Peter’s Highfields (who we share our Priest with) and are close partners with St Denys Evington and St Stephen’s North Evington. These four churches form the Highfields and Evington Mission Partnership. We are good friends with Mayflower Methodist Church and Sacred Heart RC Church and North Evington Free Baptist Church, and are part of Evington Churches Together.

We work very closely with St Philip’s Centre, who are located on the same site and we often host  events that St Philip’s organise. You can find out more about the work of the St Philip’s Centre by clicking here.
